Two England under-18 prospects are making their mark not just in the SOCS Daily Mail Schools Trophy for Stowe but Northampton as well.
Flanker Henry Pollock and scrum-half Archie McParland made their senior debuts in recent Premiership Cup matches for the Saints.
Pollock, who led England under-18s on tour in South Africa last summer, scored two tries in a 58-34 win over Saracens.
Besides playing in the Premiership’s secondary competition, the pair have also helped Stowe make a good start in the Trophy.
The best win so far was last Saturday’s 38-19 win over Rugby School while the pair are expected to face Bromsgrove this weekend.
Stowe head of rugby Grant Seely is full of praise for the duo who are juggling demands of Northampton’s academy and school.
England under-18 star Henry Pollock (pictured) has also been impressing in the SOCS Trophy
The former Saints back-row player said: “We are trying to make sure they can play for both but also balancing out their programmes between games.
“They are both very promising players and It was tremendous to see them play for Northampton and to see them do so well.”
Stowe are an improving force in the Trophy after a 12-10 loss to Stamford. That reverse was quickly addressed by a 67-10 win over Oundle and a 52-8 victory against Bloxham in the National Cup.
Ipswich School are also forging links to the Northampton academy through Ollie Saddleton.
The centre has been a key figure in a squad who gave Trophy leaders Sedbergh a competitive contest in losing 33-19.
Ipswich hit top form last weekend in a 55-17 win over Seaford College which followed success against Uppingham (69-0) and Denstone College (21-17).
Sedbergh have been in unstoppable form so far this autumn having recorded a fifth win in a 52-12 victory over St Peter’s York.
The Trophy is decided on a merit table basis from matches over the autumn term. Champions Berkhamsted are among the chasing pack including Hampton and Trinity who are both unbeaten.
