Two of England’s Under 18 summer tourists have helped Cranleigh make a quick start in this year’s SOCS Daily Mail Schools Trophy.

Led by Oscar Beard and Will Trenholm, Cranleigh beat Tonbridge 27-10 to set an early standard in this merit table-based competition sponsored by SOCS, the schools management system.

RGS Newcastle were helped to a 45-19 win over Durham by England tourist Phil Brantingham.

RGS travel to champions Sedbergh tomorrow. Sedbergh’s England full back Ollie Melville scored two tries in their 27-7 win over Whitgift.
